TRAMS

Take the tram is probably the best way to get around Zagreb. The trams have been operating safely through the streets of Zagreb for more than a century, running along around 120 kilometres track. Easily recognizable by their blue color, trams run day and night. 15 lines run during the day from 4am to midnight and 4 nights lines run from midnight to 5am. Where to buy a tram ticket? At what price?

The best way to get a streetcar ticket is to go to a "Tisak" kiosk where tickets are sold individually for 4 kunas (about 0,50 euro). It is also possible to buy a ticket from the driver at the front of the tram. However, this one is sold for 6 kunas. Once you have boarded the tram, it is necessary to validate the ticket in the machines. The ticket validation machines are located near the first and last doors of the tram. Once validated, each ticket is valid for 30 minutes. You can use it as many times as you want during this time.

BUSES

The bus is also one of the main means of public transport in the city of Zagreb. It provides transportation between the center and the greater Zagreb area (cities and suburbs). For example, this means of transportation provides a connection between the city center and the airport. So, buses are very popular with the population of the capital. The bus tickets are the same as the tram tickets, being provided by the same company ZET. You can buy them at the same price and at the same places. Either in kiosks for 4 kunas for a single ticket or directly from the bus driver for 6 kunas. FUNICULAR

Zagreb has one funicular which links the Lower Town and the Upper Town near Lotrscak Tower. This place is in fact the oldest Zagreb public transport component. It is only 66 meters long. Thus, it is one of the shortest funiculars in the world. Since it has kept until today its original appearance, construction and most of the original technical characteristics. The Zagreb cable car is under protection as a cultural monument. Taking this funicular is a real travel through history. Moreover, this means of public transportation is the safest in the city. In fact, no accidents have been recorded in over a century of use.

It runs every 10 minutes from 6.30 am to 10pm (all working days, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays). The price of one ride is only 5 kunas. If needed, passengers can order an emergency ride which costs 25 kunas. Tickets can be purchased directly at the funicular.

BIKE

Zagreb has become a real cycling city in recent years. A public bike rental system "NextBike" was introduced in the capital since 2013. Each bike can be quickly rented and returned to one of the twenty stations in the city. This bike system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can rent a bike anytime and anywhere around the city. This system is also flexible. Indeed, each person can rent a bike via a station terminal, mobile app or smart card. After, you can enjoy the ride easily.

The price is 5 kunas for 30 minutes without subscription but just credit card. Otherwise, there is another option which is a rent for 7 days with the price of 100 kunas. With this pass, you can do an unlimited number of free rides up to 30 minutes. Every additional 30 minutes cost 5 kunas additional.

TOURIST TRAIN

The tourist train, like on another big city, runs on a small route in the center of the city, starting and ending on Trg Jelacica. It only runs on weekends, every 40 minutes from 10am to 7 pm. This transport an easy way to see the major sights of Lower Zagreb at the beginning. This means of transport allows you to visit the city for the first time and to see all the monuments and important places of the capital. The good news about this form of transport is that it is free. You can hop and off as you like, taking time to explore Zagreb sights.

TAXI, UBER, BOLT ?

In Zagreb, you have the option of traveling by cab. However, this is a bit excessive. There are other options for ordering a ride online via platforms like Uber or Bolt. The latter are significantly cheaper and have many cars available.
