Book Series Summary

The Lola Dérez S.T.E.M. Mysteries(TM) is about a teenage Puerto Rican girl living in a typical metropolitan city in early twenty-first century United States.  The series follows Lola's coming-of-age as she experiences the challenge of growing from childhood into a young adult. Lola learns to adapt to progressively more complex and serious grown-up experiences, relationships, and themes. 

Lola is special in her love and aptitude for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), which helps her deal with challenges and mysteries in her life. Through her experiences and relationships, she learns the importance of moral and ethical behavior supported by her Christian faith. Her life shows how science, reason, and faith are completely compatible, and how STEM is a normal part of everyday life. 

My hope is that young readers will see themselves in Lola, or feel a deep connection to her. If that happens, my hope is that they will be inspired to explore the wonderful world of STEM!
