Monday morning message

Good morning from Mr. McGregor, Red Wing students! If you haven't seen his greeting video, you can check it out here.

Weekly Updates, Tunes, and Challenges

"Quarantune" of the Week

This summer I did a 30-day Broadway challenge through the month of July. On the day where the challenge asked for a Disney song, I recorded "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog. My saxophones are in the shop for repairs this week so I will share this vocal tune in the meantime!

Citizenship Challenge

Part of being a good citizen is helping out your community. For this week's challenge I want you to help out your own home community. Ask your parent(s) or guardian(s) whether you can help do extra chores, organize an area of the house, or help them clean up or do dishes after a meal. Your willingness to pitch in that little extra will be so appreciated!

Grow Yourself Challenge

It can be easy to complain about our situation sometimes, whether it is about the weather, having to do work or chores that we don't want to do, frustrations with technology, arguments with friends or family, etc. I challenge you this week to choose even a single day where you consciously don't complain about ANYTHING. It is an eye-opening experience to be honest - I didn't realize how many little things I complain about in a single day until I made a decision to be more mindful of my words. It totally changes your mindset! Try it this week and watch yourself grow!

YouTube Video of the Week

This beluga whale is completely mesmerized by this violin player. Watch its sweet face as its curiosity keeps it face to face with the violinist the entire time. Music is powerful, folks!

Band 7/8: Bucket Beats

The Grade 7/8 Band at Red Wing has been working on some bucket drumming this year, and we decided to put together a video project to share with everyone for Christmas. Check it out! The piece is called Bucket Beats and the students are playing Movement II: Can-O-Saurus.

Sweet Caroline!

I have decided that this should just exist as a permanent link to our music video. If you're ever looking to watch this again or show it to someone else, you know where to find it!
