New River Valley Area Agency on Aging will work with seniors and/or their caregiver to identify and obtain services, equipment, information, etc. Homebound seniors can receive shelf stable meals, fresh produce, essential paper products and pet food. Town of Pulaski Senior Center has a food pantry for seniors needing assistance. Call (540) 994-8627 Monday-Friday, 8:30-5 to request assistance. Staff can coordinate delivery of food and necessities.

New River Valley Community Services - If you are a resident of the New River Valley seeking help for a mental health or substance use disorder, you can call NRVCS at 540-961-8400 to complete an initial phone screening. If an evaluation is recommended, you will be contacted by phone for a brief clinical screening.

Cook Counseling Center - In the event of a mental health emergency or if you or someone you know is in an imminent danger to themselves or someone else, call 540-231-6557 any time.
COVID-19 CONNECTION. This is a space hosted by Cook Counseling Center for currently enrolled Virginia Tech students to connect with others during this time of possible stress and isolation. Students will provide and receive support and share personal feelings, experiences, or coping strategies. The sessions are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday starting, Monday, April 13. They will be offered until the last day of classes, Wednesday, May 6th. The Women’s Center provides advocacy and support services remotely through Zoom and by telephone. You may call the Women’s Center at 540-231-7806 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to request an appointment or you can email Christine Dennis Smith.
Masks available. If you are able, please bring a donation for the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley in exchange for a mask. This is a no contact exchange; the masks and drop-off box are located on the side porch of the house.
New River Community College Covid-19 Emergency Assistance for Students
New River Abortion Access Fund operates a volunteer-run hotline to provide financial assistance and practical support for people in the New River Valley who need access to abortion care. If you need help paying for an abortion, or you need a ride to your appointment, call 833-672-2310 and leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, the date and location of your appointment, and the # of weeks in the pregnancy. Please let us know if it is safe to leave a message and identify ourselves. A volunteer will return your call ASAP.
VA Child Care provides free assistance in finding childcare. Call 1-866-KIDS-TLC
The Child Care Subsidy Program assists families in paying child care costs for children under age 13.
The Virginia Department of Social Services will provide Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits to families of school-age children who no longer have access to free or reduced-price school meals due to public school closures. Eligible Virginia households include students who receive free or reduced-price school meals, as well as students enrolled in schools that provide free meals to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision.
