Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program (RMRP) - rent and mortgage assistance for renters experiencing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tenants may apply for themselves OR landlords may apply on behalf of tenants to receive funds to pay delinquent rental payments dating as far back as April 1, 2020, and forward. SWVA Legal Aid Society - Contact if you need an advocate to help with housing, safety, or economic security. Submit their online form or call Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to noon and 1 to 4 pm., Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The toll-free number for the intake unit is 1-888-201-2772. Online applications may also be filed on their website.

Energy Assistance via Virginia Department of Social Services - This program helps eligible low-income households offset expenses associated with heating and/or cooling their home.
Cooling assistance may include help with bills, repairing units, or supplying units. Applications are accepted June 15 through August 17.
Weatherization assistance may help reduce bills.
Crisis heating assistance - through March 15. Helps with deposits, bills, equipment.
Heating assistance - apply mid October to mid November. Helps with bills.

Indoor plumbing - Zero interest loans where indoor plumbing does not exist or where the existing waste water disposal systems have failed.
Home repair and home accessibility - Funds to address urgent, emergency health and safety hazards and physical accessibility barriers.

Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project - SERCAP's Loan Fund offers affordable Individual Household Well and Septic Loans for low-income homeowners, to help them repair and/or replace their well or septic system. SERCAP provides individual homeowners with grants and/or affordable loans, allowing them to make necessary water, wastewater, and structural repairs to their homes.
