Okay, almost to the end of this whole distance learning, and I don't know about you, but....although I have done some huge learning and have come up with some great ideas for next year, I am feeling done! But I will go on, because that is what I must do, so here goes, the second. to the last week of school lesson! Found some new stuff for the recorder, and a new song or two to sing, as well as another instrument family, which is the family of the recorder, so let's start, so lest start with that first, the 'Woodwind family'!

Although this one does start with some African percussion music eventually you will hear the woodwinds come in and there are some unusual woodwinds for sure, there are some very low saxophone's that you don't see in any band very often. So, here is the song "Africa", which is a song from the 70's by a group called 'Toto'.

Next is the recorder music, I got it off a website called YOUCANPLAYIT.com which by the way, if you really wanted to challenge yourself would be the website to visit. It has music anywhere from the early ages of music to the very contemporary songs of today, there are even themes from some of the video games that you might play. What I have put here is just a sampling of what you can find on this website.

Time to move on to listening and singing, this first song that I would like you to try is called "Humble and King", a song made popular by country singer Tim McGraw. The first video will feature 'PS 22' this is that fifth grade choir that I said I wanted to have some day, and maybe that day will be next year when you are in fifth grade! You will also be able to watch the music video from Tim McGraw as well as a lyric video to sing along with.

Now, if you didn't know it, I am a fan of musicals and just about any musical will fall into my favorite list as long as it has, well you know....music!!! So this week I have a couple of videos from a musical that was popular in 2006, "High School Musical", songs that I think are appropriate for what we are going through today. The first one is "Getcha' Head in the Game" and like I said at the top of this lesson, my head is not in the game and I need to keep it there for at least another week! So here is a clip of the musical with that song in it followed by the lyric video so that you can sing along!

Next song that I have chosen is, "We're All in this Together", which seems to be a common saying as we go through this covid stuff. We need to remember that although it may seem like it sometimes, because we don't get to see our friends/relatives, etc...we are not alone, everyone is going through the same thing and even though we may be lonely, remember, other's are too, "We're All in this Together"!

The lyric video for this song is very appropriate for this day, it is the Disney people singing the song together but virtually, they did this video in April sort of at the start of all this 'stay safe at home' stuff. Like I said earlier in the lesson, we are all in this together so here is the lyric video, sing-a-long if you want/can and have some fun.

One more sing-a-long, one that we did in the classroom and sort of states what I think is very important for me, I "Gotta Have the Music", cause 'if we got the music, we'll be okay.' and for me, this is very true, with out the music, life would be tough for me.

Going to give you a couple of websites with music games on, hopefully give you something to do when you are feeling bored, help to pass the time anyway, here is the link for the first one.

And although they might seem for younger kids they can still be fun and educational!

Have a great short week and I will talk to you next week!
