Some language “purists” reject translations that use the assistance of artificial intelligence. I do not, because AI can be used to translate texts quickly and cost-effectively into different languages. This is especially true for large volumes of text that need to be translated at short notice. The translator does not have to worry about simple, repetitive texts and can instead fully concentrate on the creative and linguistically complex parts. Customers, on the other hand, save money, receive their translation faster and can manage multilingual content conveniently and flexibly.
Machine translations are efficient, but not perfect. AI systems often do not know the company-specific or internal terms. A human editor must then adapt these correctly. In addition, AI usually cannot access existing translations or the company’s proprietary translation memories, which ensure consistency and quality. It also does not capture stylistic subtleties, cultural nuances and the tone of the text. That is why a human must always have the last word. MTPE (machine translation post-editing) is therefore essential to optimise machine translations, adapt style and terminology and ensure professional quality. That is why my colleagues and I work with MTPE. This is how your important texts get the finishing touch.
