ICCfG Meeting 2/05

The ICCfG Team welcomed us to the table with warm smiles and excitement.

The Fellows started by presenting a video report of the whole Aspirational District venture of 13 trips and 3 programs.

It was followed by a detailed sharing of how we built the conference from scratch, with the help of a few Gurukula volunteers. What all we could achieve in each trip, what were the challenges, and how did we get the participants with there being no students in the campus for 3 of the 4 days of our visit to set the conference up, was all covered. It is interesting to note that we could fix up all the logistics such as sounds, screen, seating and even food catering in less than 2 days.

The ICCfG Team was then briefed about the actual conference - dated 7 to 10 April. Details such as the number of participants, where they came from, and what they studied was all that was explained. Along with that, LMAD maneuvered the conference to accommodate and best-teach the student class of this kind, and saw a visible change in their approach towards LMAD’s ideology and all the volunteers.

We shared the data that we collected through the survey, and also shared the good response of the participants to be a part of the Aspirational District Team.

Questions and answers -

“Have you thought about how members of the Aspirational District Team will sustain themselves? What will they do in the future? Do you have any provision for that?”

“The members of the team will be volunteers. They will come, work, and go as per their ability. This is not a career option for them, nor is this something they can just ignore. This project of doing something and providing support and service towards one’ own district with sacrifice will go hand-in-hand with their routine lives of studies and career.”

“What have you thought of doing next? What is your action plan?”

“We have decided to study the district more in detail. We want to be completely versed with the localities and have close relations with the team member’s families. This will not only help us in functioning in the district, but will also be a step in our vision to have honest families who listen to each other. We will also be having frequent meetings and interactions with the team to be briefed about what they are doing and have achieved, and for us to tell them about plans and give inputs. We also want to study the government schemes and be thorough with how to avail them. A few LMAD volunteers will visit the team and reside there to work with them, guide them better and get acquainted with the region as well for more efficient work. Apart from all this, we want to get connected with the local government authorities and officials such as the MP, collector, IG, etc.”

The meeting ended with the Fellows bidding farewell, as this was the last time they would meet the ICCfG team as Fellows. It was a good and interactive meeting with a lot of sharing
