About 

I was the first one of my family to be born in the United States.  My family is from Ecuador.  Born in Jersey City, I lived and went to schools in Union City, New Jersey.

Yo fui el primero de mi familia de nacer en los Estados Unidos. Mi familia es de Ecuador.  Naci en la ciudad de Jersey City, viví y asisti a las escuelas de Union City, New Jersey.

After high school, I attended Rutgers University and majored in History - Political Science with a minor in Education.  

Después de la secundaria , asistí a la Universidad de Rutgers. Estudie  Historia - Ciencias Políticas con especialización en Educación.

I loved learning so much that I continued my studies at New York University.  I obtained a degree in Education Administration to be a school principal.

Me encantó el aprendizaje tanto que continué mis estudios en la Universidad de New York. Obtuve un título en Administración Educativa para ser un director de escuela.

Wanting to use my education and skills, I decided to work where I lived as a community organizer.  My job was to help people improve their neighborhoods.  I worked for Hudson County Department of Human Services.

Queriendo usar mi educación y habilidades , decidí trabajar donde yo vivía como organizador comunitario . Mi trabajo consistía en ayudar a la gente a mejorar sus vecindarios. Trabajé para El Departamento de Servicios Humanos del Condado de Hudson.

Named after the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, many believed my family was very religious.  Not so.  I mean, we were "cultural catholics" doing the basics: baptism, first communion, attending weddings and funerals, going to mass on Palm Sunday and Easter.  That's it!  

Nombrado en honor de 16to presidente , Abraham Lincoln, muchos creyeron que mi familia era muy religiosa . No era cierto. Quiero decir , "católicos" en nombre los que hacen lo básico: bautismo , primera comunión , asistir a bodas y funerales , ir a misa el domingo de Ramos y Pascua . ¡Lo minimo!

Well, I realized that was not enough.  At age 25, I had a spiritual awakening and heard God tell me "Go back to church."  St. Nicholas was my first parish.  It is important to me because that was the place where I met a priest who would help me grow in my faith.

Bueno, me di cuenta que no era suficiente. A los 25 años , tuve un despertar espiritual y oí que Dios me dijo "Volver a la iglesia. " San Nicolás fue mi primera parroquia. Es importante para mí porque era el lugar donde conocí a un sacerdote que me ayudaría a crecer en mi fe.

Father Robert Cormier, or "Fr. Bob" as he was called, was a priest who helped many people with his simple, but profound approach to living a life of faith.  He was an author, bus driver, speaker, mountain climber, pilot, and many other things.  Among all these, he found time to be my friend, marry my wife and I, and be the godfather to my son Matthew.  RIP.

Padre Robert Cormier, o " Padre Bob ", como se le llamaba , era un sacerdote que ayudó a muchas personas con su sencillo, pero profundo acercamiento a vivir una vida de fe . Él era un autor, conductor del autobús , orador, alpinista , piloto, y muchas otras cosas. Entre todos ellos, encontró tiempo para ser mi amigo, celebrar mi matrimonio y ser el padrino de mi hijo Mateo . Que en paz descanse.

Wanting to respond to God's love and to give more of myself, I entered a religious community to explore my vocation.  I asked God: how can I best live my life?  how can I best serve you?  The Society of Jesus, or the Jesuits as they are more commonly known, are a group of religious priests and brothers of the Catholic Church  created in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola, a Spanish priest and mystic.  

Queriendo responder al amor de Dios y para dar más de mí mismo , entré en una comunidad religiosa para explorar mi vocación . Le pedí a Dios : ¿cómo puedo mejor vivir mi vida? ¿cómo te puedo servir mejor? La Compañía de Jesús , o los jesuitas como se les conoce más comúnmente, son un grupo de sacerdotes y hermanos de la Iglesia Católica religiosas creadas en 1540 por San Ignacio de Loyola , un sacerdote y místico español .

Knowing that God is so generous and loving, I realized with the Jesuits that my real calling was to live as a married person and have children.  I married my friend and partner Barbara Gonzalez on July 7, 2002.

Sabiendo que Dios es tan generoso y amoroso , me di cuenta con los jesuitas que mi verdadera vocación era vivir como una persona casada y tener hijos. Me casé con Bárbara González el 7 de julio de 2002.

Currently, I work in Englewood, NJ as a vice principal.  I was a high school social studies teacher for six years.  My job is to help all kids learn by working with teachers and parents.

Actualmente, trabajo en Englewood , New Jersey como subdirector en las escuelas publicas. Yo era un maestro de estudios sociales de la secundaria por 6 años. Mi trabajo es ayudar a todos los niños a aprender en conjunto con los maestros y padres de familia .
