Ah, modals. Modals, modals, modals, modals, modals. Modals have a mode of grammar. Most are verbs in Litish, but don't need the verb prefix do, dod and dor. They sort of replace the do prefix as a new prefix.
Basic modals are listed below, and that'll be all for today's lesson. Short, right?
You may notice similar modals in Litish, and they make sense, and are connected due to tenses. However they are different words. This can aid memory work, but also spread further confusion. So watch out! We've split them into groups.
Can/ Keelifi/ kee-lee-fie
Could/ Keelifient/ kee-lee-fient
Will/ Vorkes/ vohrks
Would/ Vorkenses/ vohr-ken-sehs
Shall/ Rabado/ rah-bah-doh
Should/ Rabadoo/ rah-bah-doo
May/ Voolon/ vooh-lohn
Might/ Voolonisn/ vooh-lohn-nees'n (past of may)
Might/ Meenta/ meen-tah (expression of possibility, similar but differing to might)
Possible/ Jenmiakris/ zhen-mee'a-kris
Maybe/ Bento/ behn-toh
-Voolonisn VS Meenta-
Meenta is a suffix of the prefix do, voolonisn is a normal modal, replacing the prefix do. They mean relatively the same thing, but in certain contexts, are wrong. Both can be used interchangeably, but please note the grammar involved.
-Note on Litish's meenta, jenmiakris and bento.-
Meenta is used in this format: Egoii do meenta utujajede. (I might draw.) Suffix of do, dod and dor.
Jenmiakris: Italy vest jenmiakris. (It is possible.) Used as an adjective or adverb.
Bento: Can be used in replacement of both, but usually used as a response, like "Bento. (Maybe.)"
And we have a random phrase for you. This weird Earth thing is now a Litish idiom. It means nothing is impossible.
Too Can Toucan.
Vim Keelifi Velones
And with that, you have your last vocabulary of today, very random but...
Velones/ Toucan/ Veh-loan-ehs
And here's the Quizlet.
One last thing. This lesson may be updated once in a while with more modals, announcements will be put up, don't worry. Adieute!
