A soul will wander when between lives, but it is not technically a ghost.
In Lithias, Ghosts are defined as a spirit that has not ascended to heaven or hell, usually because it is tied to someone or something from their past life. Since spirits tend to become ghosts due to a tie to something on earth, so most ghosts are people who died untimely deaths. Although the existence of ghosts is believed by Lithans, it is not necessary to believe everything said here. There are various types of ghosts, the type of ghost a person might become is correlated to the circumstances of the death, and how they lived. Due to the complexity and variance of ghosts, the following is flawed in various ways, but generally, there are about 5 classes for ghosts.
Class I: The Living Ghost; This is an exceptionally rare class of ghost, it takes the same form it did in life. This ghost will slip in and out of visibility While it is solid and can interact with its surroundings, generally though, it will not, as it is not self-aware and not in a very lucid state. If a person were to come across this ghost, they likely wouldn't realize it is not a normal person, though it is possible they might feel that something is off about the ghost. Since it is so unlikely to see this ghost in the first place it is also very unlikely to spot it a second time, but if it is seen again and recognized as a ghost, it will probably be in the same area, and if moved it is probably tied to something smaller like an object or a person, but it is more common for this ghost to be tied to a place. Generally, this ghost poses no threat.
Class II: The Common Ghost; This ghost, despite its name, is very rare, but more common than the Living Ghost. This ghost is most likely invisible but takes the (non-solid) form it did in life. It does have the ability to interact with objects, as well as speak, though it isn't often it doesn't. This ghost is often self-aware, but this does make it more likely for a threat to be posed.
Class III: The Soft Ghost; This ghost is very similar to the common ghost, but it is far less rare and does not have a definite form.
Class IV: The Grey Ghost; This ghost is not very rare, it may or may not be self-aware and does not pose a threat. This ghost has no definite form and can not be seen, just sensed.
Class V: The Absent Ghost; This is the most common ghost. It has no definite form and is not visible. It can not move anything or contact you in any significant way. It poses no threat.
Prince Arthur and the Fairy Queen by Henry Fuseli
In Lithias, Fairies are not the conventional little magical creatures known to the world, but rather an extension of the soul serving to balance karma and most notoriously will attempt to retaliate against a wrongdoer in the name of karma. It is also important to note that fairies are not independent entities, but only an independent organ of the soul which can travel.
Fairies are relatively complicated to understand, in just the same fashion as the soul and spirit. To make it more comprehensible, imagine if each person was surrounded by a crowd of very small fairies, usually over half of these fairies would be "good" and the rest are "bad". The good fairies are part of this person's soul and are either on guard or fighting the bad fairies of the crowd. These bad fairies are fairies that are trying to bring karma to the individual they are crowded around, they do this by guiding the individual towards some kind of harm. When a harmful task is performed, which may even be unintentional or overlooked, the sufferer's fairies will then seek retribution from their antagonist. Once the fairy completes its goal it becomes peaceful and will either attempt to return to its original soul, or it will join with the one it is currently crowded around. Again, this is a more metaphorical explanation of how fairies and karma work, but all of the overall functions explained here are accurate.
Interestingly, since an individual is often considered as two beings in morality, as one part is in control and another is enduring the consequences of actions, one can turn some of their own fairies against themself. If a person set out a goal for themself and later sabotages their own efforts, or in the instance of doing any other form of harm to the self (whether that is physical, emotional, mental, etc.) one's fairy could view this as a provocation to attack the wrongdoer, which of course is their own host.
