Reflection

Researchers in psychology study a wide range of topics, including infant development and group behavior. The scientific method is used both systematically and empirically by psychologists to investigate questions. The complexity of psychology experiments can vary. Some basic terms and concepts (experimental design and the relationship between variables) will help understand the different types of research in psychology.

In psychology research, the basic steps are to ask a question, design a study, collect data, analyze results, and draw conclusions. Correlational studies are one of the two significant types of psychology research. The purpose of correlational studies is to find relationships between variables in psychology research. The correlation between two variables does not prove that one variable causes the other to change, although correlation studies can suggest a relationship between them. It is one of the most basic methods for determining whether two variables have a cause-and-effect relationship. There are two groups of participants in an experiment - a control group that receives no treatment and an experimental group that receives the treatment. To determine whether the treatment was effective, researchers compare the results of the two groups.

Valid psychological tests must be reliable. Reliable measures are those that are consistent. Repeatedly getting the same results makes a test reliable. 

Testing validity is one of the most important factors when evaluating psychological tests. Valid tests ensure that the results accurately reflect the dimension being assessed.
