Critical thinking, or wisdom, is a special skill. When accessed, it cuts through our own biases, habits, stereotypes, and lazy thinking so that we recognize when we’re making uninformed decisions. Such skills will come in handy when you suspect you’re falling prey to manipulation in areas like your health and finances. (“Don’t send money online overseas, Grandma!”) Throughout this course, I will be your supportive guide in recognizing weak reasoning and nurturing new thought patterns to unleash your best inner wisdom.
ENGL 100 (“Freshmen Composition”) or ENLG 100S (“Enhanced Freshman Composition”) or equivalent with a grade of: Pass or “C” or higher.
Below is a graphic map of our course learning map and our learning outcomes. Each assignment you complete in this course will contribute to your growth towards meeting these goals. After this class has ended, it is my hope that you will revise what you think you know about intelligence in your daily life.

Each week, I will send out up to 3 announcements that will be posted both in the Announcement section of the navigation bar and on the Canvas Home Page.
Weekly Announcement #1: On Mondays, I’ll share an announcement with a navigation/instruction post that lets you know what work is expected for the week.
Weekly Announcement #2: On Wednesdays, I’ll post reminders of how to prioritize the work for the week to ensure you’re on track for submission deadlines and discussions.
Weekly Announcement #3: As needed, I will send another reminder on Saturdays to help if any confusion has arisen during the week. This will not be every week, only if clarification is needed about instructions and/or due dates.
