In order to increase the number of LTC you hold, you must trade LTC to BTC at a good rate, and then convert it back from BTC to LTC when the rate is profitable. For example:
Convert LTC to BTC when the rate is 0.019
Convert BTC to LTC when the rate is 0.018
In the example above, if you sell 10 LTC at 0.019 rate, you will get 0.19 BTC (10 * 0.19). Later on, if you use all your 0.19 BTC to buy LTC at 0.018 rate, you will get 10.55 LTC (0.19 / 0.018). So, you started with 10 LTC, and ended up with 10.55 LTC.
*I'm using LTC as an example, but it can be done with ETH also
