Exhibit 2
New York Postcard
Background: I went on a trip with my family and wanted to create a souvenir since I did not grab one when I was there. I wanted to create a post card of the New York Skyline with a photo I had taken in Summer 2019.
Contrast: I decided to create contrast in the color scheme since I wanted the focal point to be the skyline. I then used contrasting fonts to allow the space in between to better connect.
Alignment: For alignment, I wanted to mimic the classic post card feel. I decided to make the text right aligned.
Repetition: There is repetition in the dashes around the border of a regular post card, so I tried to replicate that by using contrasting orange color around the border.
Proximity: To better shape the text I added proximity between the "greeting from" and "New York" to keep then close but not too close to where they overlap.
Font: Photoshop fonts include Impact and Brush Script MT
Photoshop Skills Used: I wanted to practice the techniques learned in lesson 5. I decided to make a design with the Art History Tool. I created an abstract look with the art history tool on the skyline then, added the text over top to create the postcard effect.
