Kris Herfkens, PhD, is a neuropsychologist based in Durham, North Carolina, who brings a deep commitment to education and community empowerment to her role with LIFT. 

She became involved after hearing Sandy’s unforgettable “boy with the umbrella” story and other reflections from her time in Malawi. With a career grounded in helping people reach their full potential, Kris believes strongly in grassroots initiatives that give individuals the tools, skills, and opportunities to thrive. 

Her work—both locally and internationally—focuses on expanding access to education and supporting community members as they grow into leaders.
