Focus on the Beauty Instead of the Thorns

Roses are among the most beautiful and fragrant of flowers in a garden.

They are often given as a symbol of love.

Native Americans believed that the rose was a totem of empowerment

and that both love and power were needed to achieve perfect balance.

There is a great significance here because roses, while alluring,

are challenging to pick due to their protective thorns.

Fortunately, our eyes are attracted to the blossoms and not the bramble.

While we are cautioned by the protective thistle,

we can focus on the most significant part of this plant ~ the flower.

This is just as it is in life.

The strength of your spirit shields you while the expressions of your love draw others in.

With both, you are empowered. (S. Finelli)
