"Ballade pour la laine"

The project "Ballade pour la laine" by To BieLieve was an exhibition in Filature de Belvès (France) in 2012. We tried to look at the machines of this spinning factory with new eyes. Each work was inspired by a different step in the process from wool to thread.
The pieces "Moving force" and "Fragility" refer to the powerful machines full of grease and oil and the fine threads spun by those very machines.
“Less is more” was inspired by a worn-down fragment of the spinning machine.

Each person, looking at his own life’s cycle,
Will discover between the thin threads he himself knots,
Stronger ones which hold everything together.
Exactly those strong ones can’t be said later on
To have been placed there after planning.
Just so, at crucial times in a life
Unintended things happen,
which turn out to have been of great consequence
