Made with love on mobile computers for mobile computers, the new UI for lidslateOS has been made from scratch for 2022 and beyond. Under it is the long supported, solid foundation of Devuan GNU/Linux, and in this, the project hopes to find a balance whoever uses it will like.Â
Named "Lidshell", the upcoming lidslateOS will come to life with its own design, which comes with a focus on putting human access first. It's meant to beautifully scale on whatever resolution its running on, and that's because all UI elements, not just the icons, have all been designed as vectors, which means it'll look crisp, clean, and just fit on a little 10.1" notebook to a 17" mobile workstation -- and beyond.
lidslateOS will be browser first... because Lidshell is already running inside one. That means that places like Instagram or TikTok or Wikipedia or... Google Docs for that big project that's due tomorrow morning are one tap away when you need them, without needing to get your browser going first.
lidslateOS is (currently being) built on free and open source software, and will be fully free and open to the world.
Source details will be available once the first preview is released!
lidslateOS should run great on supported notebooks and convertible tablets, but the vision for the project doesn't stop there.
A side project called 'polycarbonate' will take the ideas in Lidshell and throws them inside a PDF as a demo, so anyone can mess with stuff on their iPad or Chromebook or other mobile devices.
