This paper explores change management as it pertains to system acquisition and integration in a business setting, higher education, and in the author’s experiences. Its focus spans the system development life cycle from the planning stages to the implementation and operation of the system in its new environment. To better prepare for the rollout of a new system, a mature organization should communicate change, manage time and expectations, test for acceptance, and create clear and supportive training materials for employees.
