The Department will champion the promotion of the well-being of all Filipinos, regardless of gender or other kinds of marginalization and vulnerability, by providing equitable access and opportunities and removing discriminatory barriers. As such, it will craft policies and implement initiatives that will assure inclusion in governance and encourage everyone to contribute to the overall welfare of the people.
The audit system measures LGUs performance in the delivery of services that would generate positive results for children. All cities and municipalities shall be assessed to gauge their level of performance in implementing child-friendly programs and instituting measures that promote children’s welfare.
Councils organized at the local level that serve as the umbrella organization for all children's concerns. The DILG facilitates and provides Technical Assistance in the organization of LCPC and spearheads the monitoring the functionality of LCPCs at all levels.
The DILG reviews and endorses LGU GAD plans, budgets, accomplishments, and maintaining the GAD database at the Provincial, Municipal, and Barangay level. The DILG monitors the the following: (a) GAD Responsive CDP; (b) Establishment/ Updating of GAD Database; (c) GAD Plan and Budget and (d) Formulation/ Updating of GAD Code.
The DILG capacitates and collaborates with LGUs in implementing HLIs, and provides policy issuances to ensure their participation and resource support for the program's initiatives in order to foster the health and well-being of learners and school personnel.
PPAN is the country's overall framework for nutrition action to address all forms of malnutrition for 2023-2028. The DILG coordinates with LGUs in providing technical assistance to the LGU Nutrition Action Officers and monitors the local implementation of the said program.

Financial Assistance to LGUs
The program’s fund was appropriated under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) as financial assistance to LGUs to support their priority programs and projects.
The hallmark program of the NTF-ELCAC, the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) was established with the end goal of bringing development to former conflict-ridden communities.
The SAFPB Program aims to strengthen the collaboration between LGUs and CSOs in delivering basic services and shall contribute in accelerating the access to safely-managed and resilient water supply and sanitation services of 75 identified municipalities nationwide.
Allocated funds under FY 2021 DRRAP shall be used to aid in the recovery and reconstruction of the economy and livelihood in the Local Government Units (LGUs) directly affected by calamities
The Assistance to Municipalities (AM) Program seeks to equitably assist all municipalities in the delivery of basic services by providing financial subsidies to municipalities for the implementation of their priority programs and projects.
CMGP for Road Repair, Rehabilitation, and Improvement (formerly KALSADA) is a partnership program between the DILG and DBM for Provincial Local Government Units in response to the needed infrastructure support, as well as reforms in local roads management (LRM) and public financial management (PFM).
