Arizona GeoLiteracy
The Arizona Geographic Alliance was founded in 1992 as part of a national network of state geography alliances sponsored by the National Geographic Society and is an affiliate of the Arizona Council for the Social Studies.
Check out their lesson plans page for geography and mapping-focused units on the Sonoran desert, fire safety, agriculture, First Nations, and more.
Estrella Mountain Community College
Since opening in 1992, Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) has worked to create a “sense of place” that expresses the historical and cultural values of the surrounding communities while providing students with meaningful and engaging learning environments. As a part of the Lower River Gila Collaborative, EMCC faculty have unique opportunities to incorporate hands-on learning, research, and service opportunities for their students while giving back to the community. Click the link for more information on student opportunities within the Life Sciences division at EMCC or visit EMCC's main site at: www.estrellamountain.edu.
