The Lower Gila River Collaborative is a voluntary partnership, documented with a charter agreement. Partners agree to work together on shared regional priorities.

LGRC Strategic Action Plan

The mission of LGRC is to serve as an ongoing forum for collaboration, coordination and

outreach to improves the lower Gila River corridor. The LGRC Strategic Action Plan, is a non-binding, guiding document will provide focus and expectations for partners for the next 5 years. It includes:

As a long-term collaborative structure, the Leadership Council, Coordinating Team, Working Groups and Action Teams commit to following basic principles of successful collaboration:

Organizational Structure

Working Groups 

The Habitat Enhancement Working Group coordinates research, monitoring, and active restoration among the partners. Strategic prioritization of projects leads to efficiency and effectiveness. 

Economic Development & Tourism are regional priorities for the partners. An initial meeting is being convened to develop near- and long-term goals for this working group.

The Outreach & Engagement Working Group coordinates events, education, and stewardship opportunities. Partners also lead development of messaging and communications.


Recreation opportunities are endless along the river. Partners convene to determine priorities to ensure safe, equitable, and high quality recreation for residents and visitors.

Leadership 

The Leadership Council provides direction to the collaborative, identifies regional priorities, and supports accomplishments.  

Coordinating Team members meet monthly to make progress on collaborative projects and strategic coordination.
