Developing as a Professional Educator
TPE 6.1: Reflect on their own teaching practice and level of subject matter and pedagogical knowledge to plan and implement instruction that can improve student learning.
What is this?
On this page is a set of reflective journal entries written after teaching second grade math. They include a brief summary of what was taught as well as a detailed personal reflection assessing my strengths and weaknesses in teaching it.
Why did I choose this?
I chose to include the journal entries because they show my ability to develop my teaching skills through reflecting on classroom experiences.
What did I learn?
These journal entries have taught me the importance of self-reflection. As a teacher at the elementary school level, it is necessary to assess my lessons and reflect upon what went well, what could have gone better, and how I can adjust my lessons for the future. It is important that I am continually improving my teaching practices and consider how to best use the learning experience to cater to the needs of my students.
