Leisure 26

The Association has very little information about the Leisure 26.

She was built from the same moulds and virtually identical to the well known Oyster 26, of which 47 were produced  between 1987-1981 by Oyster Yachts.

Probably around 1982, after Cobramold had ceased trading and Brinecraft had started to produce the Leisure 17s and Leisure 23s, it's possible Brinecraft were looking to produce something larger than the L23.

The L27 moulds no longer existed since they had been re-worked to produce the L29. These L29 moulds had been bought by Jaguar yachts of Canvey Island who used them to  produce the Lynx 29.

Oyster Yachts had stopped production of the Oyster 26 in 1981,  so possibly Brinecraft saw an opportunity and used the moulds to produce the Leisure 26. It appears that very few were built, possibly only one or two.

The main difference between the Leisure and the Oyster is the rig, which was 7/8 on the Oyster, but is 3/4 on the Leisure.
