Leisure 18

The Leisure 18  appeared in 1996 and was  a completely new design by Simon Cory and built in the Cory Yard in Kent.

The Leisure 18 is a trailer-able small yacht for short handed cruising, large enough to accommodate a family for long weekends, etc.

The one piece moulded hull is built in GRP with moulded keels and skeg. It has a recessed transom step for easy boarding. Foam reinforcing and stiffening is provided where required.

Twin Keel

Twin lead ballasted, aerofoil keels are standard which make for efficient sailing with excellent stability, yet keeping the draft to 2’3″ for shallow water cruising and ease of trailer recovery/launching. The skeg hung rudder allows the boat to take the bottom safely.

Auxiliary power is normally supplied by an outboard in a well, under a cockpit seat. Alternatively, an 8 hp Saildrive inboard diesel engine can be fitted.

On deck, the cockpit is safe and comfortable. Halyards and reefing lines are led aft which means that sail handling can be safely carried out without leaving the cockpit. Roller furling on the foresail is standard.

Three/Four berth

Down below, a three-berth and enclosed toilet compartment layout is standard. An alternative is a four-berth layout without the enclosed toilet compartment.

The forward accommodation has two full-length settee berths with cushioned backrests. This is convertible to a double berth by lowering the cabin table.

The galley has a two burner gas cooker and sink.
