1. Explain overview and goals of this challenge
2. Demonstrate how the challenge works, robot setup on arena, rules, etc.
3. Brainstorm elements needed to build a quality robot
You need a plan. You must think of strategy before building. You must consider a strategy for the following reasons:
Go into your software > Building Instruction > Building Ideas
A few more ideas are here as well
As you consider your strategy for sumobot it is time to consider the chasis. You need a strong well built chasis so your robot does not fall apart upon contact.
While it is important to think about attachments, they don't matter if your robot cannot move and stay together.
It is time to build a working basic chasis that moves on the arena they way you want. Consider placement of the color sensor. You need to be able to identify the white boundary line and stop so you don't drive right off the arena.
Now that your robot is moving and sensing the white line it is now time to make your sumobot powerful, quick, robust, etc.
Consider attachments. Where will you add them? Where is the best place to attach your strategic builds?
What about additional sensors? Are you adding touch sensors to trigger a new behavior upon contact?
This is time to begin to make the sumobot your own.
This is when you begin to consider a name for your robot!
Once your robot is beginning to function it is important to begin to test your prototype solutions.
This is an important stage to test run against others and make necessary adjustments based on the feedback you receive.
Today we create the bracket for the tournament of sumobots!
