Jonathan Hong has competed in Stoa for four years. During that time, he has qualified for Nationals in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Parliamentary Debate, Apologetics, Original Oratory, Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Persuasive, Slam Poetry, and Duo Interpretation. He won 3rd place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the Silver Lining and advanced to outrounds at the largest California tournament of 2025, SoCal Classic. In addition, Jonathan won 5th place in Persuasive at Nationals in 2026. Jonathan’s mission is to equip students with the skills they need to debate with excellence, and, most importantly, to help students speak boldly and change the world for Christ.

Qualifying for Nationals in all four years competing, Walter Mitby has had multiple tournament wins, as well as winning 4th in Lincoln-Douglas debate at the largest preliminary tournament in the nation, SoCal Classic, in 2025, and placing in quarterfinals at Nationals in Impromptu speaking in 2026. Ranking 7th in the nation in Expository Speaking in 2023 with a 5th place finish at Nationals, Walter is a logical and passionate speaker. His goal is to help students to become proficient in debate and have the confidence to defend the Christian faith. He believes true success is achieved not by winning tournaments, but by learning to speak for Christ.

Qualifying for nationals four years in a row,  Solomon Hou is a standout Lincoln-Douglas debater. He won Lincoln-Douglas debate at the 2nd largest Northern California tournament of 2025. Solomon’s unorthodox strategies and innovative ideas make him stand out as a remarkable debater.
