When I first applied to study at this college I knew this was something I really wanted and it was a dream come true for me when they assessed and confirmed my place. From that day, I've seen it as a great opportunity to express myself and excel on ICT, which is what I applied for. I started the course and the first thing I noticed was the environment which seemed to be having a positive impact on my experience.
Besides the college itself, no matter what reasons I had to back up from studying , I kept on attending the classes as I knew I'd be proud of the result in the long-term. The ICT BTEC Level 2 & 3 course has really provided me with a deep training when it comes to the use of application software and practical ICT skills, which in the future would serve me as a strong foundation for my career in IT. Throughout the course, I experienced a wide variety of learning methods, including assignments, self-study, instructional videos, and sessions with guest speakers who visited several times a year to inspire and motivate us or by advising and getting help from friends. There is a combination of practical work and theoretical study which allowed me to engage deeply with the material. This type of approach toward my studies ensured that I found learning styles that suited me best and help me excel in my studies and prepare for a successful career in IT.
As a Digital Portfolio Administrator, I managed and organized digital portfolios for the Head of ICT because she saw my potential and trusted me with important tasks. I created digital portfolios for T-Level students at CWC and kept their information updated in real-time. This meant I had to update frequently to avoid losing track or making mistakes, but I did my best to keep everything accurate and well-presented.
In this role, I used my web development skills to design and maintain the platform where the portfolios were hosted, creating user-friendly interfaces and interactive features. I also worked with others to gather important information and materials, which improved my teamwork skills.
Thanks to my efforts, the students' achievements and progress were showcased through well-curated and visually appealing digital portfolios. This helped boost the college's recognition and reputation.
I volunteered and assisted with the Open Day Event at CWC College. There I had to engage with prospective students and their families. I served as a friendly and informative point of contact, providing attendees with important information about ICT and what our college offers. This role allowed me to demonstrate my knowledge and contribute to improving the college's reputation.
I gave personalized campus tours and assisted with registration and check-in processes, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for attendees where I gave them general information on how our college proceeds and what their next step was going to be.
Using such effective communication skills, I connected with a diverse audience, built rapport, and left a positive impression on visitors.
Last year, I was given the 'Student of the Year Award' because I did really well in all my assessments and assignments, and I never missed a class - I had perfect attendance and was always on time. During the Awarding Evening at our college's theatre, my teacher talked about how much effort I put into my studies and how far I'd come. It was such a special moment for me, being surrounded by everyone, getting our trophies and certificates, and feeling proud of what we'd all achieved together.
Getting the 'Student of the Year Award' has really pushed me to aim even higher in the future. It's more than just a trophy; it's a reminder of all the hard work, dedication, trust, and teamwork that I've put into my journey so far. This recognition motivates me to keep pushing myself and achieving even more.
