Purpose of the Project
This project examines how gardening experiences support preschool children’s development across four domains:
emotional
social
cognitive
physical
The goal is to translate research into practical strategies that educators can use for educational purpose.
“Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Knowledge results from the combination of grasping and transforming experience” (Kolb, 1984, p. 41)

In past studies, how has learning through gardening supported preschool children’s learning and development, and what does the literature demonstrate about gardening as a pathway for meeting developmental outcomes?

My interest in gardening began in childhood, spending time in my grandparents’ garden. As an Early Childhood Educator, I have seen firsthand how gardening sparks curiosity, cooperation, and responsibility in young children. This project combines personal experience with academic research to better understand how gardening can enrich early learning.
