9:00 - 9:30AM: Welcome + Morning Overview

9:30 - 9:45AM: Break

9:45 - 10:25AM Expert Panel Nominal Group Technique (NGT) Session #1 - "Opportunities"

Meeting attendees identify opportunities for the Learner Data Institute while working in homogeneous groups according to their "Expert Panel" assignment, using Zoom "breakout rooms." Nominal Group Technique is used to ensure each member of each Expert Panel has multiple opportunities to contribute to the group's discussion. Prior to the meeting, LDI participants were assigned to Expert Panels in the following areas:

  • Data Science

  • Learning Science

  • K-12 Education

  • Learning Engineering

  • Human-Technology Frontier

10:25 - 10:35AM: Break

10:35 - 11:15AM Expert Panel NGT Session #2 - "Challenges"

Meeting attendees identify challenges for the Learner Data Institute while working in the same homogeneous groups according to their "Expert Panel" assignment as in Session #1, using Zoom "breakout rooms."

11:15 - 11:30AM: Break

11:30 - 12:15PM: Jigsaw Sharing

Members of each Expert Panel are randomly assigned to groups in which each Expert Panel has at least one representative to "share out" findings about opportunities and challenges identified in Sessions #1 & #2.

12:15PM - 1:15PM: Lunch Break

1:15 - 1:45PM: Afternoon Overview: Introduction to Transformative "Killer" App Exercise [Presentation]

1:45 - 2:45PM: Transformative App Session #1 - Brainstorming

Meeting attendees are randomly assigned to heterogeneous groups (in Zoom "breakout rooms") and use the Nominal Group Technique to brainstorm ideas for transformative or "killer" apps that can harness the data revolution to transform the learning ecosystem in line with the mission statement of the Learner Data Institute.

2:45 - 3:00PM: Break

3:00 - 3:30PM: Transformative App Session #2 - Refinement

Meeting attendees reconvene with the same groups from Transformative App Session #1 (in Zoom "breakout rooms") and use the Nominal Group Technique to refine the ideas identified in the earlier session. Groups identify a "reporter" and develop a quick "pitch" of their transformative app to be presented to the broader group by the reporter.

3:30 - 3:45PM: Break

3:45 - 4:45PM: Group Evaluation of Transformative Apps

Reporters identified by each heterogeneous Transformative App group "pitch" their app idea to the broader group of meeting attendees. Collaboration tools are used to vote for the "best" Transformative App.
