LDC has a number of extracurricular teams that compete in different events.
Team practice schedules are on designated days. Chief Starck will give cadets update in class as to cancellations/ changes.
Team Commanders are in charge of all aspects of their team, including training and selecting team members. Instructor will approve on the final team members.
Cadets that are asked to be on a team must be ready to commit to all practice sessions and participation in the team competitions. If you have to miss a practice, please notify instructor. Cadets will be required to maintain a passing grade in all classes.
Each competition will include a uniform inspection, and for some competitions LDC topic questions may be asked to the cadets. Attached is a list of items that will help cadets on the day of the competitions.
Cadets that participate on teams will learn teamwork and leadership skills. It is also a great activity to create new friends not only within your school but also across the district. These friends you will maybe meet up again with when you continue in JROTC.
Team participation is voluntary and does not affect the cadet's LDC grade. Team members are picked based on their skills and motivation. Team participation of each cadet for team practice is strongly encouraged starting in 6th grade but even more so in 7th and 8th. You never know, if a team member is unable to participate you may be the one chosen to replace them. If cadets are not chosen for the team, they should keep showing up to practice so that they can be an alternate in an emergency.
