Parents are a crucial resource for the successful implementation of the Leadership Development Corps program. Because of the many extracurricular activities available to the students, there are several opportunities for parents to volunteer time and other resources. Coordinating these efforts falls on an elected board of LDC parents, much like the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) board.
All LDC parents are automatically part of the support group known as the LCIS LDC Booster Club.
Levels of Parent Involvement
Board Officers and Junior Officers: An elected position with duties and responsibilities for managing the Booster Club and providing essential assistance in helping the program work efficiently (i.e. President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Historian/Webmaster, Membership coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Team Sponsor)
Voting Member: Because several decisions require member voting, voting rights are extended to "paid" members of the Club. To become a voting member, a parent pays a nominal fee (see Booster Club's by-laws for specifics).
Volunteer: Volunteers do not have voting rights but may attend meetings and volunteer when feasible, after completing the district's easy online volunteer registration.
Inactive Member: Inactive members do not have voting rights, cannot volunteer without direct registered-volunteer supervision, but can attend meetings to remain knowledgeable of LDC and Booster Club activities. Upgrading to "volunteer" status is available at any time by completing the online volunteer registration.
