Get Ready to Apply!
1.Read the scholarship application carefully. Pay close attention to:
minimum requirements
application period
responsibilities if chosen as a recipient
how and when are awards issued
2.Don’t shy away from scholarships that require essays. You can repurpose an essay several times. Remember to meet the requirements for each essay topic, word count, and formatting.
3.Letters of recommendation. Ask at least 2 weeks in advance of the deadline. Give the writer a resume and be sure to write a thank you note!
4.Apply for as many scholarships as possible. The more you apply for, the better your chances are of winning. You can repurpose the application material.
5.Only apply for scholarships that you’re qualified to earn. Don’t complete applications for scholarships if you don’t meet the minimum requirements.
6.Proofread your application. Scholarship applications should be error-free.
7.BE COMPLETELY HONEST ON YOUR APPLICATION!
8.Be aware that your reputation counts! Keep your social media clean!
