Flexible Musician

Being a well versed musician can mean many things. As a full-time teacher, performer and orchestrator, I have gained valuable skills and insights as they relate to the music business.

No. 2 "The Deserted Cabin" by R. Nathaniel Dett arr. Layne Sullivan

This is a preview to a score I submitted for my orchestration class in the spring of 2023. This project was the first of 4 projects I did in the class, and it is the one I am most proud of. I am not a string player, so I had to do a lot of self-study about playing technique and scoring for strings and harp. I believe this demonstrates my capacity to write/arrange music for various instruments that I have not studied professionally. This project, and this class laid the foundation for my love of composition and arranging.
