Summarizing fiction and nonfiction benefits from appropriately designed paragraph frames that are developmentally appropriate. Scaffolding means sometimes I give part of the answers. Differentiation means some students will extend the writing by adding opinion or judgment statements.
This is an energetic activity I use to help students conjugate verbs. We use regular and irregular verbs from the curriculum. The chant includes gestures to help make the practice more memorable (and fun)!

Morph House is a whole class experience. We learn about a word, the ways it can change, and its parts of speech. Used in context this poster becomes an anchor. This strategy works when an explicit time is set aside in the day to ensure regular ESL practice.
In this video, we used the question/ answer speaking structure using singular and plural (is/ are) with vocabulary from the science curriculum. This was followed up with practice using is/are with things found at home.
