Who I am
I'm a Web and Data Science researcher based in Modena, Italy. Since December 2010, I work as an Assistant Professor at the "Enzo Ferrari" Engineering Department of the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia.
My research interests include Linked (open) data, Visualization of big datasets, Web and information systems, Data Integration, Knowledge and Ontology Design, Semantic Technologies, Word Sense Disambiguation, Open Data, Open Government and Smart Cities.
I received the title of Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and Science from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia on 13th February 2009. The title of my PhD thesis was “Automatic Lexical Annotation: an effective technique for dynamic data integration”.
I am a member of the College of the INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES (ICT) Doctoral School at the University Modena and Reggio Emilia.
I am a co-founder of DataRiver srl; the Spin-Off designs and develops solutions for data integration using techniques from research in the field of the Semantic Web.
I am the leader of the European Project "TRAFAIR - Understanding Traffic Flows to Improve Air quality" co-financed by INEA CEF Telecom as part of the call CEF-TC-2017-3 Public Open Data that will start the 1st November, 2018.
I am involved in the European Project Re-search Alps [2017-2019] (http://researchalps.eu/) co-financed by INEA CEF Telecom as part of the call CEF-TC-2016-2 Public Open Data where I lead Task 1.1 "Survey, collection and analysis of the available date".
In March 2018, I received the National scientific qualification to function as an Associate Professor (abilitazione nel settore 09/H1, dal 30/03/2018 al 30/03/2024)
- [11|2018] Start leading the TRAFAIR project "Understanding Traffic Flow to Improve Air Quality". The project goals are monitoring air quality within the urban context and make predictions on air quality based on weather forecast and traffic flow. It has a budget of more than 2 million euros and is co-financed by the European Union through the CEF TELECOM program. The project has 9 partners from Spain and Italy. It will be developed in 6 cities and it will last 24 months. Follow our work also on Twitter.
- [10|2018] Federica Rollo has been admitted at the International Doctorate School in "Information and Communication Technologies" of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia - UNIMORE (Italy), her research topic will be "Big Data Analytics in a Sustainable Smart City"
