Helped Colleagues with Various Tech Needs
Even though I am not the campus technologist, it frequently comes up that someone needs my help troubleshooting technology for them. Sometimes it is making a computer screen display correctly from a projector, sometimes it is helping someone access the Internet, and sometimes it is exporting information for a report. This activity is closely tied to Technology Facilitator (TF) Standard I: "Technology Operations and Concepts" (Williamson & Redish, 2009, p. 203). It helped me master this standard by showing me how important continuing my own education is. I was a PC person until this past June, when I got my first Mac. Windows 7 is on all the new teacher computers, and I have struggled with things that were simple on previous operating systems. I will continue to sign up for classes and relying on my overall knowledge of how computers work. Luckily, maintaining computers is not my primary responsibility.
