Philosophy of Education

My personal philosophy of education is based on the belief that every student can achieve success. Despite ability, disability or background, I truly believe every student is capable of endless growth. Education should be a holistic experience for every child. This means building a school community that caters to the whole child. Academic growth is equally as important as social, emotional, physical and creative growth for learners at every stage in their academic careers. In order to cater to the whole child, the community, school and classroom environment must be a place of safety, nurturing and acceptance. Without catering to the fundamental needs of children, learning and growth cannot take place.

Vision of Effective School Leadership

School leaders are the agents of change within the school organization. Effective leaders need to be organized, data-driven, collaborative, technology literate and efficient. Administrators need to create a safe and nurturing school community that aligns school systems, decisions and initiatives with the needs of the organization, as well as the needs of the community.

In order to lead effectively, administrators should:

• Develop, model and support a shared mission that promotes social and academic success of all students

• Collaborate with stakeholders and the community about decisions that affect the organization

• Lead with professionalism that models good moral compass and ethical values

• Respect, recognize and celebrate the diversity of a school and community

• Promote systems of curriculum, instruction and assessment that align to the organization's vision, core values and ethical standards

• Make data-driven decisions on ways to improve curriculum, instruction and assessment

• Create and maintain an environment that is safe, inclusive and accepting

• Support continuous development of staff pedagogy and skills by giving effective, actionable feedback

• Continuously train and coach staff on relevant technology and blended learning best practices
