Q: What days and times are you open?
A: The Creation Station is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM. We are closed Monday and Tuesday.
Q: How do I sign up for a class?
A: You can call, email or visit in person to schedule a reservation for a class and schedule at least 24 hours ahead of time. We do not take walk-ins for classes.
Q: How old do I need to be to take a class or get a membership?
A: To take our Crochet 1-on-1 class, you must be at least 7 years of age. For our other MakerSpace classes and for a Membership, you must be at least 14 years of age.
Q: If I am not 14, what can I do in the MakerSpace?
A: There are monthly programs available for patrons 7 years of age and older such as Maker Craft, Ozobots After School, MakerSpace Camp and FAB-Tastic! Check our monthly calendar for when these events are scheduled.
You can also use our 3D Printing Express Services to request print jobs.
Q: What forms of payment does the Creation Station accept?
A: We accept the following forms of payment:
Cash
Check (Made out to the City of La Quinta, write Creation Station in the memo)
Visa (Surcharge will be added to overall cost)
MasterCard (Surcharge will be added to overall cost)
Q: What do I need to provide to qualify for a Student/Teacher/Military membership?
A: The Creation Station will accept the following forms of proof for special memberships:
Student: Student ID, Current Class Schedule, Letter of Current Enrollment, Letter from School District, Admin or Staff
(High School, College, Grad School, Doctoral, Community College)
Military: Military ID, Veteran Affairs letters/docs
Teacher: Teacher ID, Letter of Employment, Copy of Paystub/Deposit with institutions name listed, School website with staff photo
Q: How much does it cost to 3D print?
A: Regular PLA/ABS Filament is $13.00/lbs. and Specialty PLA/PETG/TPU is $15.00/lbs..
Q: I have an idea but no design file, can you make me a file to print/cut?
A: Maybe, but mostly No. The Creation Station is a community resource that is available for personal hobbies and interests. We are not a professional manufacturing company. While we can help with simple projects or make some changes to files, we do not specialize in custom files/designs/prototypes.
Q: I have of craft supplies/tools/machines I need to get rid of, does the Creation Station accept donations?
A: As the Creation Station is a community resource, we are always looking for fun and creative crafts/projects and sometimes donations can be benificial to devloping future programs or providing supplies for patrons. Here are lists of items the Creation Station will and will not accept as donations.
Acceptable:
Yarn
Fabric (cotton, polyester, felt, in fair condition)
Sewing Notions (sewing needles, thread, etc.)
Crochet Supplies (Hooks, Stitch Markers, etc.)
Paper Supplies (Cardstock, printer paper, sticker)
1.75 mm Filament (PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU)
Acrylic or Plywood Sheets
Vinyl (sticker, iron-on, permanent)
Not Accepted:
Used electric tools
Clothes
Cash (All monetary donations must be sent to Riverside County Library System)
Broken Machines
Old paint
Printer inks
Rusty tools (ie. Scissors, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.)
