Dr. Ark Verma
Dr. Ark Verma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at IIT Kanpur.
He has passed his B.A. in Psychology and English Literature from University of Allahabad in 2007, and his M.A. in Cognitive Science from the Centre of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences, University of Allahabad in 2009. He went on to do his PhD in Psychology, from Universiteit Ghent, Ghent, Belgium at the Centre for Reading Research, UGhent under the supervision of Prof. Marc Brysbaert in 2014.
His research interests include lateralisation of cognitive functions, visual word recognition, social cognition and bilingualism. At IIT Kanpur, he has taught a range of courses including Introduction to Cognitive Science, Foundations of Cognitive Science, Experimental Design and Analysis, Introduction to Psycholinguistics, and Cognitive Science of Multilingualism.
He has also delivered several online courses on the NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) platform, such as Introduction to Brain and Behaviour, Social Behavior and the Brain: An Introduction to Social Neuroscience, Introduction cognitive processes (basic and advanced), Psychology of Bilingualism and Multilingualism, Psychology of Language, and Basics of Experimental Design in Cognitive Psychology.
