Foundations of Library, Archives, and Information Science

This assignment was a chance to engage with a community group to develop a project that demonstrated the professional capacity and skill of LAIS professionals beyond the traditional provision of resources. This group project focused on a partnership between librarians and therapists in a medical hospital to work with children through bibliotherapy.

The goals of this project:

• 1.To learn in-depth about one community partner

• 2. To find innovative/ proactive ways for LAIS professionals to engage with them

• 3. To acquire an experience of collaborating with community/organizational partners.

• 4. To become more comfortable utilizing technology

• 5. To contribute to an ongoing real-life project or to initiate one for the benefit of your community

The goal of this assignment was to investigate a specific professional area of LAIS. This project covers a brief history of outreach librarianship and the current state of the field as well as some useful resources.
