PTA Reflections
The Reflections is a national PTA program that provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
The due date for all submissions for Laneview is on Tuesday Oct. 15, 2023. Please review the art contest rules and submission information in this flyer. The winners will be announced at a Student Assembly.
Math Kangaroo Enrichment Program
Math Kangaroo is an International Math competition held once a year and has been held nationally in the US since 1998. The mission of Math Kangaroo is to help students love math nationwide. The program encourages students to master their mathematical knowledge, give them confidence in their ability for comprehending mathematics, and help them understand how mathematics applies to nature's laws and human activities. We will announce dates for this program in early October.
STEM Day(s)
The PTA is working with STEM advocate, Mrs. Charif (4th Grade teacher at Laneview), to provide more ways and avenues for students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Be on the lookout for ways students can take part in these STEM activities.
Ms. Nancy Nguyen, PTA Reflections chair, displaying the beautiful artworks. Thank you Ms. Nancy!
Inner Self
Artist Statement: I am using my voice through my art to say "you have bad and good in you but try to pick the good so you can be more kind and respectful to others". I have used color pencils and crayons for coloring.
Do You Hear My Voice
I Talk With My Voice
Into the Future
Artist Statement: In my art, I am showing what pollution will do to the air, sky, and anything around you if we keep on doing what we are doing right now. You will always need your headlights on when you are driving the car in the day and night. I want to show the world that pollution is bad for the environment and for us. It does nothing but kill Mother Earth. With no more Earth means no more animals, which means nothing to eat. With nothing to eat, eventually there will be no more humanity.
Save the Environment
Artist Statement: Our actions make a big difference. The hands holding the globe means that we are the one that chooses which environment we want to live in. On the right side, it shows a clean environment with a river that leads to the clean ocean that are home to many ocean animals. The trees are an important resource; it is home to many land animals. On the left side, it represents a bad environment where factories release oil, plastic, and trash; it pollutes the ocean. We are in control and can keep our planet clean.
Help the Earth
Artist Statement: Why I chose this art is because we need to save the earth before there is no water for us, and no animals to live. Our earth will be polluted so we need to save the earth to survive!
Artist Statement: I drew that on my paper because there are things that I like to do and it is related. Because I showed my voice with drawing of things I like! The meaning of sparkles is because I sparkle! Why I drew cats? Because I love animals! This is what I like most!
Artist Statement: This is my voice. Because I see myself speak up out loud and share my thought with you. My words reflects me and my mindset! This is my voice.
Artist Statement: The Philipino jeep is the only one in the world its a long colorful one you can ride for a vacation. Recently my grandma in Phillipin passed away and I decided to draw a jeep to honor her. The Philipino jeep is also known as jeepney , in the top of the jeepney you can store your suitcase or bags, and the jeepney has a back door for people to come in, in Philippines when you ride a jeepney it's like a bus the drivers are very nice and friendly. I remember the best memory on the jeepney when I traveled together with grandma and enjoys the ride on the bumpy roads.
Save Mother Nature
Artist Statement: It shows my voice because I worry about pollution, life, and drought. And it came true. So I say out loud, "Save Mother Nature."
Artist Statement: I like Legos. I make my own constructions of my favorite characters. This is my voice, I like to build!
Rexy's Kingdom
Artist Statement: We believe that dinosaurs are cool and big. They also have crazy claws and they also have made the new movie called “Jurassic World Dominion.” Everybody likes that movie so much and that’s why we made the Extended Edition and that is why we made this short film using a special app and we moved a dinosaur figure inch by inch and recorded and made it as if they actually moved. We call it a Stop Motion movie app.
