One dark and stormy day in March 2022, a mysterious question popped up on social media. Adam Kirkpatrick, of the famous Tony's Pizza, Dystopians, Nightfire, and all-around pillar of the Lander music scene had a plan.
With an initial meeting of about ten people, the Lander Adult Prom was born.
The goal?
Fundraising for the Lander Community Pig Roast music festival.
Without even any consideration as to the feasibility of such an endeavor, this committee pulled off an absolutely EPIC event in just eight weeks. Eight meetings.
By the time all was said and done, there was one food truck, one amazing band (The Lost Springs Band is SO talented!), a few decorations, a professional photographer (CM Photoz), and a whole lot of fun!
This committee stayed almost the exact same composition from day one. People joke that if you want something to be delayed or postponed, form a committee, but this crew was something else.
From the onset, there were big ideas, huge motivation, and a friendship that was forged in greatness.
Needless to say, one annual event just wasn't going to be enough.
We wanted more.
We NEEDED more.
Thus sprang the Lander Creative Arts Club.
Lander, Wyoming has always been a town celebrated for its incredible art scene and as the community grows and evolves, so do its artists.
But how do we even know who is an artist in our community?
If someone doesn't have name recognition or a larger entity behind them, they tend to become invisible. That was something we couldn't sit back and let go unchanged.
Lander Creative Arts Club and its original board members believe that art is present in everything around us. It doesn't matter if you can't play an instrument, paint a picture, write a novel, or crochet a blanket. There is SOMETHING of an artist in everyone.
We promise.
And beyond that?
Every single human consumes art.
Television, theater, music, books, paintings, crafts your grandbabies made in preschool... all of these things become integral parts of who we are as a community.
So here we are.
The Lander Creative Arts Club.
We can't wait to see how this tiny seed of an idea will continue to grow in the coming years, and how we can help foster art in YOUR life!
