It is in some ways hard to believe that we are now in May 2022. It is fantastic for restrictions to be easing and school events to be happening again. As you will see below, this term is jam-packed with events, trips, assemblies and all sorts of learning and fun - we are grateful for all the offers of support we have had from parent helpers and the school community in order to make things happen this term.

Our P1-7 Sports Day is taking place on Monday 23rd May! The day will begin for the children with a special assembly all about one of our important school values, Wellbeing.
In the lead-up to Sports Day, we are learning about Sporting Heroes, those sportspeople who can influence and inspire people of all ages to participate in sport and live a healthier lifestyle.
Sports Day will run in school from 10am-3pm. The structure for the day will be as follows:
10:00:
P1-3 Potted Sports
P4-7 Races
11:00: Short break for snack/drink
11:10: events then continue for remainder of morning
12.15: Lunchtime
13:15:
P1-3 Races
P4-7 Potted Sports
15:00: Trophy Presentation and Parent Council Lottery Draw
Key Sports Day information:
Please ensure your child wears a T-Shirt that corresponds with their house colour
Crathes Spiders
Dunnottar Geese
Fetteresso Foxes
Muchalls Magpies
Our wonderful Parent Council will be selling refreshments on the day
We invite families to bring a picnic and 'make a day of it' - if your child chooses a packed lunch option on Sports Day they are welcome to eat lunch outside on the grass with family
Please note, we are still seeking volunteers for Sports Day. The more people who volunteer, the less time people will have to spend helping with activities. This increases the chance that everyone will get to see their child racing. Even if people are only able to volunteer for part of the day, we would welcome this! Please let us know if you can help by filling out the form at the link below:

Sincere thanks to all those who have volunteered so far - we will send confirmation and further details on Friday.
Foodbank Friday
We really value our partnership with the Storehouse Food Bank in Stonehaven - after taking a short break, we would like to finish the year with 2 BIG collections on Friday 27th May and Friday 24th June. Ideally, if each school family can donate a single non-perishable food item or anything else useful for individuals and families in crisis, we will be able to donate almost 250 items - this makes a huge difference for those who need it most.
We recognise that everyone is facing more challenging times with regards to rising costs etc., so please do not feel obliged to donate.
The Lairhillock Sponsored Walk is scheduled on Wednesday 1st June.
Sponsor forms will come home on Friday 20th May and we ask that all sponsor money comes back to school by Wednesday 8th June.
We will also be seeking volunteers once more - a Google form will be emailed to you on Friday with further details on this.
The image reflects what the children (and adults!) associate with the Sponsored Walk.
In order to celebrate being able to welcome our school community back, we are holding a Summer Show with songs from popular Musicals. On Tuesday 28th June, we will stage an afternoon and evening show. A Google form will be coming out soon where you can request tickets. Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis - payment can be made by cash or cheque to the school office once you have been notified that your tickets have been confirmed. Tickets will initially be limited to 2 per family. We will notify you if extra tickets are available.
Further details coming soon!
