We have quite a few changes to report regarding staffing just now, and for the new term beginning in August.
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Hodge back to work. Mrs Hodge is currently working 2 days per week in Primary 7, and will increase to 4 days per week from August.
We are also completely delighted to welcome our new school Administrator, Mrs Campbell. We are sure you will see/hear lots of Mrs Campbell when visiting and phoning the school office. Welcome to Lairhillock, Mrs Campbell!
Mrs Ward, our Additional Support for Learning Teacher, is retiring at the end of this term. Mrs Ward has helped so many pupils during her years at Lairhillock and will be dearly missed by her pupils and colleagues. Mrs Ward's replacement, Mrs Collett, will be joining the team in August.
We are delighted to inform you that, as of August: Mrs Gill, Mrs Moir and Mrs Lethaby will all be full-time members of staff at Lairhillock. Mrs Lethaby now has a full-time, permanent contract here, and we are delighted for her (and us!) Mrs Moir is increasing from 2 days to 5 days per week for the 22/23 school year, and Mrs Gill from 4 days to 5 days per week.
We will be welcoming a Probationer teacher, Mr Christie, to Lairhillock in August. Mr Christie has been with us as a student in P2 this year, and also attended the P7 Residential. He has made excellent relationships with all children he has met in school, and we are certain he will continue this great start to life at Lairhillock with his class in August.
Mrs Laura Gray also recently joined us in nursery and is settling into the team very well - welcome Mrs Gray!
Miss Rodger will be with us until the October holidays (we hope!), when she will begin her maternity leave. We wish Miss Rodger all the very best for welcoming her first-born child into the world! The advert for maternity cover for Miss Rodger's post will go out in August.
As Mrs Swaans and Miss Shepherd's successful probationary year comes to an end, we wish them all the very best with their future endeavours. We have been very fortunate to have two wonderful contributors to our school community spend the year with us, and we are certain that Mrs Swaans and Miss Shepherd will be successful in wherever they go next. We also wish Mrs Swaans all the very best for the imminent arrival of her third child in August!
Finally, I must share the news that I will be moving on from Lairhillock School in October as I will be relocating to the Western Isles with my family. It has been a pleasure to lead the school throughout a challenging, exciting 2 (and a half, by the time we reach October) years. I will be very sad to leave a wonderful, supportive school community, and will miss the children, families and my colleagues so much.
The Headteacher position at Lairhillock will be advertised in the coming days, with interviews being conducted after the summer holidays, whilst I am still in post. My last day at Lairhillock will be Friday 14th October.
Below you will find the class structure at Lairhillock next year, along with teachers for each class. You can also expect an email this week confirming the teacher(s) of your child's class.

We will be holding a 'Meet the Teacher' session for all classes on the morning of Tuesday 28th June, which will give pupils the chance to meet their new teacher and be in their new classroom.
Please note, 'Meet the Teacher' is not an event for parents.
Our Lairhillock Summer Musical Show preparation is in full swing, and we are excited for you to see the children perform!
There will be two performances, at 2pm and 6.30pm. We ask that children are back at school for 6pm for the evening performance.
We imagine that audience demand for the evening performance may be higher, so we ask that if you CAN come along to the afternoon performance that you choose that option.
There is a Google form below that you MUST fill in if you intend to be in attendance. We will not be allocating tickets as such, but will have a list of expected attendees for each child/family. Please note, there is no cost to attend the show - we can't wait to see as many of you as possible!
Once you submit your form, please note that we will only get in touch with you if it is not possible to allocate you a space for the show you wish to attend.
Our Sponsored Walk raised a phenomenal £1236.00! Thank you to all those who donated and collected sponsorship!
A huge thank you also to the Parent Council for organising strawberries, sweeties and snacks for the follow-up event, our Platinum Jubilee celebration!
Our partnership with the Storehouse Foodbank in Stonehaven continues to help the most vulnerable in our community and the surrounding areas.
We will be holding a final collection for the whole school on Friday 24th June. All non-perishable food items and toiletries accepted - the Storehouse let us know that demand for their services has never been higher, so our donations are making a HUGE difference.
The P7 Leavers Assembly will take place on Thursday 30th June at 2pm - all P7 parents are invited - you are advised to bring tissues for the tears!
The P7 class will also have their Leavers Lunch on Wednesday 29th June.

Thank you so much to our Parent Council for all of their support this term. As things get going once again with trips and outings and inviting parents back into school, the Parent Council have been vital in supporting the school with finances to lessen the costs of trips on families.
We also must thank all those parents who have volunteered in any capacity this term. Trip volunteers, Bikeability trainers, Library helpers - you all know who you are and we so appreciate your support of the school!
The Parent Council also generously donated gifts to the staff as a thank you for their hard work - these gifts are never necessary but nonetheless are very appreciated.
Please note, we finish for the Summer Holidays on Friday 1st July at 3.15pm. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer holiday, and we look forward to seeing you all in August.
