Seeing characters who look like us and communicate like us in the toys and books we play with as children helps us develop our identity. Here in the LACH-MERMAID Lab, we're building a lending library of inclusive children's books and exploring how children's language use is expanded by seeing their identities, including disability, in picture books through research. If you'd like to increase your use of inclusive picture books in speech-language therapy, see our presentation about strategies for inclusive book reading and peruse the catalogue of books in our lending library below.
Don't forget to return it to our inclusive library in HHS Room 271 when you are finished, so another clinician can borrow it!
