Mechanism-Guided Translational Research in Oral Mucosal Immunology,
Lead by Dr. Seung Cheol Lee
We conduct mechanism-driven translational immunology research to define the cellular and molecular principles governing the oral mucosal immune microenvironment and to understand how their dysregulation contributes to oral mucosal disease. Using patient-derived specimens, we integrate single-cell and spatial omics to resolve disease-associated immune-cell states, tissue organization, and intercellular interactions at high resolution. These findings are further interrogated through functional cell-based assays and preclinical models to establish the mechanistic relevance of key immune pathways. Ultimately, we aim to uncover the immunological heterogeneity and pathogenic mechanisms of oral mucosal diseases and translate these insights into precision diagnostics and immune-targeted therapeutic strategies.
