Our research explores how oral-associated microbial taxa interact with cancer biology across multiple cancer types, including oral, gastric, esophageal, colorectal, and lung cancers. Using patient-derived oral samples, animal models, and public cancer datasets, we integrate microbiome profiling, transcriptomic analysis, and single-cell and spatial host–microbiome analyses to identify disease-associated microbial signatures and accompanying host responses.
We further examine associations between candidate taxa, tumor phenotypes, and clinical outcomes, and validate their context-specific functional effects in cell and animal models, including transcriptional reprogramming, epigenetic regulation, and changes in cancer-cell phenotypes. Ultimately, we aim to connect microbial signatures with cancer biology and clinical characteristics, thereby advancing precision diagnostic biomarkers, risk stratification, and therapeutic target discovery.
