The LAAWW Community Partnerships Subcommittee meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 12-1pm PST. Contact us at NationalLAAWW@gmail.com if you would like to participate.
The mission of the Community Partnerships Subcommittee is to act on the social justice tenant “nothing about us without us” by centering and emphasizing that lived experience is also expertise. Recognizing that disability justice and language justice in alert and warning and emergency communication require full and meaningful participation by community members in decision making spaces.
Identify community-based organizations we work with and know of in our communities.
Strive to include people with lived experience of disability and language inequity to the general membership of LAAWW.
Develop, share, and model processes to advance meaningful contributions and leadership of those members with lived experience within LAAWW.
Tatiana Elejalde is chair of the LAAWW Community Partnerships Subcommittee. She is an Equity & Language Access Analyst and language access subject matter expert for the City of Portland, Oregon.
